Our Recommended Blogging Resources & Tools

Hard work will get you in the door, but smart work will guarantee your success. The tools you use will heavily affect how far you go and how hard/easy it will be.

Starting with the wrong host/platform for your website can greatly influence your online presence and scalability.

Below are the best tools we’ve come across and used that have made a great impact on our business.

This page contains affiliate links to products I love and highly recommend. You can find out more about our affiliate disclaimer here.

I don’t recommend you spend any money on any products unless you feel you need them or that they will help you achieve your goals in some way.
Web Hosting Tools

The first step to starting a successful blog is hosting. Depending on the host you choose, it can either break or make you. I started out on Bluehost and everything went downhill. SiteGround is who I recommend. They are by far the best host out there. Blazing speed, amazing up-time, and the best support there is. Get 60% OFF with this link

The best registrar for new domains. It’s cheap, secure and easy to understand. Use NameCheap

This is the best place for your blog or website. They power more than 25% of the web. You have more freedom to grow your business, not to mention the plugins they have for whatever you need. You can install WordPress in one click within Siteground. Follow this step by step guide
WordPress Themes

Elegant Themes

One of the best WordPress theme providers out there. You get 87 Themes, access to all their plugins, their site builder and unlimited website usage. You can use them on as many sites as you like, and only for 89$. I am currently using the Extra theme for those that are wondering. Start Using Elegant Themes

Thrive Themes

They are another great WordPress theme provider. Actually, everything they offer is awesome. You will notice that I will recommend a lot of tools from Thrive Themes. (I would recommend all their tools, but I don’t want to fill up this page with their products only, so I will only do a few.) You will end up wanting everything they offer, trust me. Their theme also comes with a builder that makes blogging a lot easier. Just like Elegant Themes, I highly recommend them. Start Using Thrive Themes
Email Marketing Tools

Convertkit stands above the rest. It’s all about simplicity, but still being able to handle your needs like automation, sending targeted emails to your list and much more. This will be one of the best investments you could make. Start Using Convertkit

Thrive Leads

You can handle everything that has to do with lead generation to your site with Thrive Leads. Their form builder is easy to use, just drag and drop. Pop-ups, slide boxes, Optin forms, Hello bar, two-step optins, etc. This has to be the best and simplest lead generation tool out there. Start Using Thrive Leads

If you are just starting out with little to spend, mailchimp is a good place to start. You get your first 2,000 subscribers free. When you are ready to get serious about your list you can switch to Convertkit. Start Using MailChimp
Social Sharing Tools

Social Warfare

This tool makes it 10x easier for your readers to share your content, track where your readers are coming from and won’t slow down your site. If you plan on using Pinterest for traffic (which you should) this is a must have for pinnable images. Start Using Social Warfare

This is a great social tool that comes with many other features. Sumome & Social warfare are the only two I recommend. You can set up and track share buttons on the sides and on images. Collect email, A/B test, use heatmap to see where your readers are clicking and more. You can install it for free! Start Using Sumome
Social Media Marketing Tools

The best Pinterest tool there is! They are a Pinterest partner, so there is no downside to using them. You can pin at the time when pinners are most active thanks to this tool, get analytics, trending pins, Engagement, referal traffic and many more insights – not to mention you could now do the same for your Instagram with this tool. See how fast you can grow your traffic. Try Tailwind For Free

If you don’t have the time to post to your social sites, Hootsuite will take care of that. You can just schedule your posts for later or have them post automatically through their rss feature. It just does not do Pinterest. You get three social accounts on their free plan. Start Using Hootsuite
SEO Tools

I highly recommend this tool to grow your blog. They offer everything you would need for SEO. From daily keyword ranking, Competitor spying, Audits, visiblity score, backlink monitor/finder and so much more. They even tell you what links pointing to your blog that are hurting your rankings. This tool is a must have. Try SEOprofiler For Free

Don’t just do keyword research. Do it right. This tool is easy to use for new bloggers. Find the right keywords to target and increase your organic traffic. Don’t bother competing with the bigger blogs, use the long tail strategy they are not using. Start Using LongTailPro
eCommerce & Sales

Shopify is simple and easy to use. An all in one when it comes to creating an online store. If you plan on dropshipping, or will be focusing on selling products, Shopify would be your choice. They come with everything. Shopify does not require buying additional solutions. Not to mention they offer 24/7 support. Start Using Shopify

If you already own a blog and only need basic needs, Woocommerce would be a great choice for onsite sales. This way you can keep expenses low. Don’t get me wrong, they are a great platform. If your needs ever change, or you need more features, you can always build with their premium extensions. They have a pretty wide selection to choose from. Start Using Woocommerce
WordPress Plugins

Clever Widgets

I love this tool. You could now show the exact message to your exact audience. Rather then having the same sidebar,  you could target an exact page, category, or post and without creating any extra widgets in WordPress. I highly recommend this tool if you write targeted content (which you should.) Start Using Clever Widgets

Yoast SEO

If you own a blog there is no reason why you should not be using this tool. I started with “all in one SEO” but switching to yoast was a smart decision for me. All their features are great, and, it’s free. Start Using Yoast SEO

Headline Optimizer

With less than 3s to impress your visitors, if you are not a good copywriter, you are losing visitors. This tool lets you compare your titles to help you decide which is best. Get your readers to stick around and read the content you’ve worked so hard on. Start Using Headline Optimizer

Google Analytics Dashboard

I have tried some of the other analytics tools, and this one is my favorite. You could track visitors on the same day. The name explains itself, so I won’t say much. Get it for free. Start Using Google Analytics Dashboard

I would have recommended disqus here, but it makes the site look ugly. If you use the regular comments that come with WordPress, be sure that you get this tool. I can’t tell you how many blogs I have seen where the owner is conversating with a bot. It’s funny, because bots and spammers can hurt your blog. This free tool will help filter spam. Start Using Akismet
Free Images

This one is my favorite place to get free images. They have a wide selection and give you the option to choose size before you download. Start Using Pexels

Unsplash has the biggest selection and their images are very high quaility just like pexels. Only down side is the file size. They are extremely large, so resize them with canva before optimizing them Start Using Unsplash

This is where I started out. Pixabay has a good selection, but a bit lower. They also pull images from other platforms like pexels, unpslash and the other ones I did not mention. Start Using Pixabay
Extra Tools

Cloudflare is an important tool that, not everyone takes advantage of, unfortunately. This add-on will help speed up your site, make it more secure and allow you to get more visitors without needing to upgrade your hosting and the best part, it’s free.

Start Using Cloudflare

Coschedule Headline Analyzer

If you are not a content writer, this tool will help you create the right headlines to get people to your blog. Headlines are really important, that is why I mention two different tools that do similar jobs.

The Coschedule headline analyzer and the Headline Optimizer from Thrive.

Start Using Coschedule headline analyzer

No worries if you are not a designer. That’s why you have Canva. This free tool makes it easy to design your images for your blog or for Pinterest.
