We’ve all seen the movies. The shy girl who was unknown and unpopular undergone a dramatic change and becomes this confident, I will no longer put up nor tolerate your crap anymore woman.

We’ve seen this so many times that we’ve labeled it as a cliché, a false campaign. But what we don’t realize is that this happens in real life so many times, that these movies we’re watching actually have a bit of truth to them.

Some people are born confident, and they know how their lives are going to be. But others are too shy and some want to be confident but just don’t know the steps to take.

If you’re One of those people who want to become more confident and need some extra information then these following statements can help you increase your confidence.

Don’t Back Down

Don’t let people tell you what you can and can’t do. Only you are aware of your own capabilities and no one else. Take on those challenges and you could be amazed at what you’re capable of.

Rise to the occasion and be daring, be bold, be brave. Want that promotion? Then go for it. Want that cute barista you met at the bar? Then go for it. Want to climb that mountain or run that marathon? Then go for it. Don’t let anyone or anything stand in the way of your dreams. If you want it, then don’t back down and go for it. The rewards of not backing down can and will amaze you.

Don’t Be Afraid to Get into Arguments

Now I’m not talking about arguing over who ate the last cookie or which Super Bowl team is better, but about what you believe in.

If someone is bashing and downplaying a concept you strongly believe in, don’t be afraid to jump in and defend your beliefs. What you believe in is a part of who of you are are, it makes you who you are. And to easily give up on what you believe in is to easily give  up on yourself. Your views matter. They always have and they always will so don’t be afraid to challenge those who challenge you. Get into that argument and win it.

Don’t Quit

Winners never quit and quitters never win. It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve fallen, what matters is how many times you’ve gotten back up. Don’t be discouraged. Many have been in your shoes and many have been able to surpass the obstacles. Of course, there will be challenges. Of course, there will be roadblocks and days where you’re just too exasperated to continue. It’s all a part of life. But when you pass these roadblocks, when you’ve knocked down these obstacle courses, there won’t be a thing you can’t do.

One of the best feelings in the world is accomplishing your goals. There’s something so satisfying about reaching the top of the mountain or crossing that finish line. All along, you knew you could do it and you can. All the keys you need for success are embedded in you so never quit, never stop reaching for your goals.

Don’t Procrastinate

The temptation of not doing work is so high. It’s so easy to push it off to side and at 1 in the afternoon when you tell yourself you’ll do it later. 1 p.m turns into 5 p.m which turns into 11 p.m and still nothing’s been done. Next thing, you know it’s the day before the project is due and you’re scrambling to get things done.

I’m guilty of this, waiting until the last minute to get things done. It’s a bad habit that so many people have that really needs to get broken. Don’t wait until the last minute to start completing your tasks. Instead, complete it early. If it’s a project that takes a week or more, break it up by day. Spend two or three hours for three days on your project and just simply get it out the way.

Something that can help decrease your procrastination is getting yourself more organized. Organize all the assignments you need to get finished by days that are due first. Getting rid of these assignments can help you free up some time to work on the much larger ones. Another tip to help get things done on time is to turn off your phone so you can stay more focused.

I know from experience that phones and other electronic devices can be a major distraction and can make your mind stray off the main task. So turn off that phone, find a quite area with limited noise, plop yourself down, and get to work. The more confident you are in your work, the more confident you are in your life.
